Private campgrounds are available in Montrose and along the Dolores River off Highway 145.

Alta Lakes 970.327.4261
Alta Lakes Rd. is 6 miles south of Telluride off Hwy. 145. The campground is 5 miles up a rugged dirt road at 11,000 feet. Open late June to late September. Undesignated sites, 7-day limit, vault toilet. Free.

Burro Bridge 970.882.7296
18 miles south of Telluride, 6 miles west on Dunton Road (a rugged dirt road). Open late May to November. Fourteen sites, vault toilet, water, fairly remote, horse-friendly with corral, trail to Lizard Head Wilderness. $12.

Cattis Flats 970.240.5300
Approximately 16 miles west of Telluride on Hwy. 145. Open year round (weather permitting). 10 RV/tent sites, vaulted toilets, picnic tables, boat ramp on the San Miguel River. 7-day limit. Free.

Fall Creek 970.240.5300
12 miles west of Telluride on Hwy. 145, left at Fall Creek Road, then 1.5 miles on the right. Open year round (weather permitting). Undesignated sites, no services, no facilities. 7-day limit. Free.

Lower Beaver Campground 970.240.5300
21.25 miles west of Telluride on Hwy. 145. Open year round (weather permitting). 2 RV sites, 4 tent sites, vaulted toilets, boat ramp on the San Miguel River. 7-day limit. Free./span>

Lizard Head Pass 970.327.4261
18 miles south of Telluride at the top of Lizard Head Pass. Open late May to late September. Undesignated sites, vault toilet, no services. 7-day limit. Free.

13.5 miles south of Telluride on Hwy. 145. Open late May to September. Three walk-in sites, 8 RV full hook-up, 17 sites for car campers and tents, water, showers, toilets. $20-28.

7 miles south of Telluride on Hwy. 145. Open late May to September. Eighteen sites, composting toilets. 7-day limit. $16.

Telluride Town Park 970.728.2173
East end of town in Telluride Town Park. Open mid-May to mid-October. Twenty-eight sites (including 10 RV), 5 primitive sites, restrooms, showers, water. No hookups, RV maximum length 30 feet. Town Park is reserved for festival camping only during Jazz Celebration June 5-8; Bluegrass, June 19-22; Blues & Brews, September 12-14; and KOTO's summer concert, July 12 or 13. 7-day limit. $16 ($8 seniors). Primitive sites $12.

Woods Lake 970.327.4261
13 miles west on Hwy. 145, left at Fall Creek Road, then 8 miles up. Forty-one sites, water, composting toilets, horse-friendly. 14-day limit. $14 or $18 with horses.
